Adventure in Costa Rica

IMG_3951

One of the main reasons I wanted to visit Costa Rica was to explore its beautiful wildlife! This was my first solo trip, so I wanted a knowledgeable local guide, and then I found Bucus Tours, located in Manzanillo, Costa Rica.  Manzanillo is located on the east coast of Costa Rica, a 4 hour drive from the capital city of San Jose.

The town of Manzanillo is a tropical paradise getaway. A relatively quiet area with only a few tourists here and there, it is known for the most scenic beaches in Costa Rica with fantastic weather all year round.

Things to know before your tour :

  • Each tour is 4.5 hours
  • Bring water (It was extremely warm and humid there)
  • Sun block and hat
  • Good hiking boots
  • Long Trousers if possible
  • Camera with long lens (Lots of animals were out there)

I was excited to take this tour because it has amazing reviews on Trip Advisor. Omar is the man who showed me around. I did 3 tours with Omar: Dolphin Tour, Kayak Tour, and Jungle Hike.

Dolphin Tour

This was my first time to ever encounter wild dolphins… They were swimming around us for a while as if they were greeting. It was an unforgettable experience.

Kayak Tour

Can you tell how peaceful it was from the pictures? Just be prepared to paddle on this tour because you will be kayaking for a while. I was exhausted by the end of the tour but it was worth it.

Jungle Hike

Omar spotted animals from miles away that would just look like a shadow to us. We saw all kinds of creatures, such as a viper, sloths, monkeys, and snakes! His knowledge, love for nature, stories and sense of humor added even better experiences.

It was less like a tour and more like hanging out with an old friend who is showing you his home. I strongly recommend it!

It was my first solo travel, but at the end I made some friends. If you are afraid of solo traveling but want to go exploring, just do it! You won’t regret it.

Hope you will enjoy the beauty of wildlife, as much as I did!

Hey lovely girl! Looks like you had an amazing trip and had so much contact with wildlife. So jealous that you actually got that close to dolphins too. I love your blog – it’s super clean!

These tours look so amazing. Love that you got to see so much wildlife.
Tours that are a bit more relaxed are my kind of thing.
So glad you had a great experience with this company
