Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi: Our Luxurious Stay

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi: Our Luxurious Stay

One of Vietnam’s most historically rich hotels, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is located in the center of busy and chaotic Hanoi. They opened their doors in 1901 and since then, the colonial style hotel has attracted more visitors to travel from all over the world. It has become one of South East Asia’s most iconic hotels, and it’s also the oldest operating hotel in Vietnam. There are many amazing hotels in Hanoi, but Sofitel Hanoi is the place to stay if you are looking for a luxurious stay. It has many fascinating features for visitors, including elegant rooms, great restaurants, and a variety of amazing amenities.

Access to Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

One of the highlights of the Sofitel Metropole Hanoi was their central location to downtown. Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is a calm oasis, located in the center of the Old Quarter, but it is just far enough away that it maintains its tranquility. It is in close proximity and walkable to almost everything! It is just next to Hoan Kiem Lake and the Opera House, and the ice cream shop down the street was delicious. While walking around the lake, crowds of people were gathering to enjoy the warm night air and lively night life. Vendors lined the streets selling souvenirs, sweets, drinks, and a variety of goods. There are also countless stylish cafes, restaurants, and shops surrounding the area. We took a taxi from the hotel to Not Bai International Airport (Hanoi Airport). It took us 30-40 minutes to get there, and it costed us around $30USD.

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

Sofitel Legend Metropole is divided into 2 wings: the historical Metropole Wing and the newer Opera Wing. There are 364 rooms and suites. You’d probably wonder which room you should choose between, the Historical Wing or the Opera Wing. The Historical Wing is inspired by vintage French architecture infusing local Vietnamese culture, while the Opera Wing is more modern and chic. It is heavily influenced by classic French architecture. The staff informed us that Westerners tend to choose the Historical Wing, while Asians tend to prefer the Opera Wing.

The interior of our room was classic and elegant. The bed was large, and the atmosphere was welcoming and easy to feel at home. The desk and the couch also made a great place for reading and relaxing after a long day. My favorite was the bathroom. I loved the huge and luxurious bathtub. Their amazing service made our luxurious stay more enjoyable as well. We were fortunate enough to be welcomed with chocolates and dry fruit from the management staff as well. 🙂

You have so many dining options in Metropole Hanoi, that you will never run out of new restaurant options! There are 2 astonishing restaurants: LE BEAULIEU (exquisite French cuisine) and Spices Garden (Vietnamese cuisine redefined with French flair). There are also 4 unique bars: Angelina (Cocktail Bar – Whisky Lounge – Restaurant), Le Club Bar, La Terrasse, and Bamboo Bar. Our favorite restaurant was Spices garden, and our favorite bar was Angelina.

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

The breakfast buffet was phenomenal. There were varieties of bread, meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, and even sweets. They serve both French and Vietnamese cuisine for breakfast. Everything was delicious, but I fell in love with their Eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the sauce was creamy and rich. It was definitely one of the top 3 I’ve ever had! Their coffee exceeded expectations as well. We ordered a cappuccino every morning, and they brought refills promptly upon request. The breakfast buffet is served at Le Beaulieu, Spices Garden, and La Terrasse at Metropole Hanoi, but I recommend the restaurant “La Terrasse” for the atmosphere and slightly different selection.

We had dinner at the Spices Garden restaurant, and it was an amazing experience at Metropole Hanoi. They serve a variety of Vietnamese cuisine. We absolutely loved sampling the different tastes that we were typically not accustomed to. Our favorite dish was probably the Bun Cha. Bun Cha is a Vietnamese dish of grilled fat pork and noodle. It was served with herbs and fresh and slightly spicy dipping sauce. If you haven’t tried it, then it should be at the top of your list in Vietnam!

Angelina Bar at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

We had a couple of drinks at Angelina Bar. Although Angelina is famous for its world-class whisky collections, we tried their modern and traditional cocktails. The bar was definitely a big plus for luxurious hotel in Hanoi. Both cocktails were very fresh and delicious. The atmosphere was modern, yet elegant and it was a perfect spot for a date night. They also offer a vast amount of cigars to pair with their whiskey selection, however we decided to opt out from this experience.

Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi

The hotel offers a heated swimming pool, an exclusive club lounge, a luxury fitness center, and a private spa. We especially loved spending our time at the pool. We had snacks and drinks there, but some people enjoyed having their brunch. The atmosphere was cozy and perfect for luxurious stay. The pool area was a illuminated during the evening, and it offered a wonderfully romantic touch. I definitely recommend having a couple of drinks at the poolside after a long day.

All things considered, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is definitely one of Vietnam’s most luxurious places to stay. The facility retains such an intimate and old fashioned charm, and the staff was excellent.  From the moment we arrived, we were amazed by their incredible customer service despite having to accommodate such a large number of guests. Beautiful pool, bars, and the courtyard were also a delightful addition to our time in Hanoi. We especially enjoyed taking photos around the common areas and resting by the poolside late at night. The accommodation, staff, and the overall experience was 5 star plus. We can’t wait to visit again in the future and can highly recommend Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi if you are looking for a luxurious hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The Strand Yangon: Luxury Hotel in Myanmar

The Strand Yangon: Luxury Hotel in Myanmar

We recently visited Yangon and had a chance to stay at The Strand Yangon ; one of the most luxurious hotels in Myanmar.  The 32-suite Strand Yangon was founded in 1901 and remains one of South East Asia’s few grand colonial hotels.  The hotel is located nearby famous Buddhist sites such as Shwedagon and Sule Pagoda.  It is also 30 minutes away from Yangon International Airport. The hotel staff were very attentive and friendly everywhere I went in the hotel. It was such an excellent service with superb facilities.  We haven’t experienced anything like Yangon before, and it didn’t take us long to fall in love with the city.

The Room

The suite we stayed in was very spacious and elegant. We stayed in the Superior Suite, which is a 55mSuite with high ceilings and beautiful mahogany furniture. The bed was comfortable for the two of us and the decorations give the feel of an executive room. There was complimentary tea and coffee served in the Suite at any time by our butler, and there was also a fully stocked mini bar and fridge. The bathroom was sophisticated, and their complimentary bath kit even included my favorite brand L’Occitane 🙂 (yay).

The breakfast at the Strand Yangon was phenomenal. Their breakfast is a la carte, which means you can order anything from the menu as much as you would like. It was probably the best à la carte hotel breakfast we have ever experienced. The quality and presentation of the food seriously blew us away.

The dining room features original vintaged windows, with shiny flooring throughout, and lacquered fans hang from the high ceiling. The decoration and their service made me feel like I was a princess… (hehe) It was a great way to start off our day! 🙂

Their swimming pool was a perfect place to escape the bustle of the city, and it was so relaxing to just hang out.  The pool was right next to a tropical garden, so you can just wander around while drinking refreshing cocktails or fruit juices along with a variety of snacks.  We also loved Sarkies Bar at The Strand. There are a variety of cocktails, wine, and beer to choose from. I ordered my favorite cocktail, a mojito, and it was full of flavor!! The atmosphere of the bar was luxurious yet cozy.

If you are in Yangon, this hotel is such a wonderful treat. The Strand Yangon is truly an oasis tucked in to the busy city.  From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we had the most wonderful time at The Strand.  We have traveled around, but this hotel became one of our favorites! From the moment we walked in, until check out, we can honestly say we enjoyed every minute.   Our thanks go out to the wonderful staff, chefs, and beautiful decor and history incorporated with this hotel.  Hope this review will help you for your future references! Fun things to do in South Florida

Fun things to do in South Florida

My ultimate guide for you to find fun things to do in South Florida.

Southern Florida is the perfect destination for you to ralax and escape from the cold climate. Besides relaxing at the beach, there are many fun things to do in South Florida. South Florida is a home to the incredible natures and natural habitat, and there are many state parks and national parks. There area many fun things to do no matter what ages and interests you have. Here are some things I’d recommend doing, along with places to eat and stay.

Things to Do

Wynwood Walls

The walls and doors are soaked with bright, eclectic street art and graffiti. This is not just simple graffiti, but an outdoor art museum to be enjoyed for free. It is just 20 minutes away from South Beach. Whether you love Graffiti or not, I guarantee that you will be impressed and inspired upon visiting – the raw talent exhibited here is impressive and refreshing. This place also offers plenty of restaurants, shops, stores, and even night clubs. It’s a perfect place to have fun in South Florida! If you want to check out more contemporary arts, there is a museum called Pérez Art Museum Miami, 10 minutes away from Wynwood Walls. The admission is $16 for adults and $12 for youths.

Everglades National Park

Everglades National Park is located South West of Miami, and it is well known for the largest subtropical ecosystem in the United States. It is also famous for a bunch of wild alligators. It was my first time to ever see wild alligators, so I was very excited. If you visit Everglades, I strongly recommend you take airboat guided tours. The scenery was astonishing, and our guide was very knowledgeable about the wildlife and plants. We learned so much about Everglades ecosystem and habitats which are connected by wetlands and water bodies. We saw 2 alligators and even 3 wild raccoons! Some of the boat take you close to alligators, while others focus more on explaining the natural beauty of the environment. No matter what you want to see, you will have an experience of a lifetime. The ride was smooth but exhilarating.

John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park is located in Key Largo. It is the first undersea park in the United States, and most visors enjoy the beautiful coral reefs and their marine life. There are many unique activities to do, such as glass-bottom boat trip, snorkeling tours, scuba diving, kayaks, and a small beach to relax. It is recommended to do glass-bottom boat trip.

What to Eat

I introduced Wynwood Walls earlier for their vibrant murals, but there’s also a great seafood restaurant nearby.  The name is Mignonette Miami. Reservations are suggested as this place is busy. It had high reviews on Yelp, so our expectations were high, but it didn’t disappoint us!

For appetizers,  I recommend trying a sampler plate of the oysters, so you can get tastes of the different selections from West coast to East coast. Each oyster was fresh and excellent. We also tried their clam chowder and Lobster Deviled Eggs, and my highlight was definitely the chowder! It was probably the best chowder I ever had. For entrees, each one of us got the lobster roll and it was absolutely delicious. Their portion of lobster was very generous, and the crusty bread was delightful. For dessert, I strongly recommend you try their bread pudding! It was a butterscotch bread pudding with cayenne whipped cream, and the flavors were to die for.

A La Folie Café

A La Folie Cafe – This place was such a gem! I loved everything about it – I felt like I was in Paris. The interior was lovely and comfortable (there was even a cute kitty!), and their crape was phenomenal. I had a crape called NORMANDE – caramelized apples with a Calvados cream sauce. It was not too sweet and the flavor was absolutely delightful. Their cappuccino was perfectly presented as well.

Where to Stay

North Miami is a popular place to stay in Miami, but it is usually very crowded, loud, and expensive. If you are looking for hotels to relax in front of a beautiful beach, I recommend you stay at Grand Beach Hotel Surfside – located in the vibrant town of Surfside, Florida. The hotel is right in front of the ocean, so all you have to do is walk out the back door and you will be amazed by their beautiful private beach. The hotel provides chairs, umbrellas, and towels.

The room was very spacious, clean, and decorated in all white. The big balcony was a big plus, and the ocean view from the balcony was breathtaking. We also loved the super comfortable king bed. Besides the room, our favorite part of the hotel was their adult-only rooftop pool. Spectacular views, and you can have nice cocktails with great service. It’s definitely a perfect spot for romantic evening.

Disney Dream Cruise

Have you experienced any cruises? If not, maybe you are wondering which cruise you should take… We recommend you experience Disney Dream. You might think a Disney Cruise is for a family with kids, but this cruise provides unforgettable experiences for senior/younger couples as well.

The ship was fabulous, clean, and nicely decorated. Surprisingly, Disney had quite a bit of adult only entertainment during the cruise. In addition to the enforced adults only swimming pool /deck area, Spa&Salon, and the adults only night clubs, there were also activities for just adults, such as games, trivia, quizzes, quest, etc.

Our room was beautiful and roomy. It had a nice size veranda & very comfy bed, and it was cleaned twice daily. There was a separate room for the toilet and the shower that I really appreciated. The room service was also great! They brought us breakfast every morning so we could enjoy eating on our veranda. It was such a great experience. We also loved how the room attendant left towels in the shape of animals in our cabin every night along with chocolates.

There are 6 kinds of pools. You have a big water coaster to enjoy, but there’s also a quiet cove pool, designed for Guests 18 years of age and older. The huge deck is for dance parties and “dive-in” movies. There’s also a free ice cream shop. You can enjoy unlimited ice cream anytime.  In the night, the lights are up and the view is so dreamy.

Nassau Island

Although we usually don’t hear great things about Nassau, we loved how colorful the city was! People tend to experience dolphin encounter in Nassau, but it is so expensive (over $260!), so we decided to relax at The Tiki Bikini Hut. One of the best things about this hut is that it is so close to the cruise port – 15 mins by walk. They provide free wifi, and the staff was very friendly! Drinks were delicious and their jerk chicken was to die for!!

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay is Disney’s beautiful private island, and it is just what you expect from a private island. It was clean and quiet, and it offers good food and friendly service. The ocean was crystal blue and it was very relaxing.

We booked Castaway Cay Sandbar Beach Adventure beforehand, and we cannot recommend it enough. There were only 2 couples (besides us) attending the adventure, and it was very quiet and beautiful moment. This was definitely my favorite experience from Disney Cruise. We took off on an exhilarating ride across the Bahamian waters to a charming, deserted sandbar, only available for anchoring at low tide. They gave us a couple of cups of Bahamian Rums and Coke, and they were delicious!!

Palo is an adult-exclusive restaurant serving Italian Cuisine in a luxury setting with stunning seaside views. Fine Italian begins with artfully prepared antipasti. For our main course we chose Osso Buco di Vitello — Slow roasted centre cut Veal Shank with Gremolata and Risotto Milanese. The flavor was phenomenal. For a sweet ending, we recommend you try the chocolate soufflé with vanilla bean and chocolate sauce.

A French-inspired menu of superior seasonal ingredients ensures dining at Remy is always a first-rate affair. We joined Remy Dessert Experience. It is an adults-only dining event, and you can enjoy a 5-course dessert menu, dessert wine, coffee and an in-depth discussion with the Executive Chef. As each dessert is presented, they’ll explain its history and evolution.

Their breakfast was buffet style. They were simple but delicious!

Overall, Disney Dream was AMAZING.  I could go on and on and I know that I have left several things out. I could not have asked for a more perfect vacation! It was a gorgeous ship with amazingly friendly staffs. Who knew Disney Cruise was for adults to enjoy?  I simply can’t wait to do it again. You need to go book this cruise NOW!  Hope this helps future travelers 🙂

Luxury in Bali: Ayana Resort and Spa

Luxury in Bali: Ayana Resort and Spa

Everyone loves Bali. One of the great things about Bali is to stay at a beautiful villa and enjoy relaxing. Ayana Resort and Spa is a perfect place for you to relax, refresh, and have unforgettable experiences. We have never felt more welcome in any other inn or hotel we have stayed at and I have to add that this was one of the most comfortable and spoiling experiences in my life!

There are 3 kinds of rooms; Guest Suites, Guest Rooms, and Villas. This time we stayed at one of the villas with private pool. The room was surrounded by beautiful garden, and it was perfect to enjoy the lazy days with no disturbances.

There are 12 magnificent swimming pools. I spent most of my time at River Pool, but I strongly recommend Ocean Beach Pool.

There are over 15 restaurants/bars in Ayana Resort and Spa. Each restaurant offers amazing quality food and service. Our favorite dining was Rock Bar (Tapas and Mediterranean) , Sami Sami (Italian), and Kisik Bar & Grill (Balinese Seafood).

Rock Bar

Ayana Resort is well known for this Rock Bar. The view was breathtaking and their cocktails were delicious.

Sami Sami

It is a stylish open-air restaurant located directly above Rock Bar, offering brilliant views any time of day. Needless to say, the food was outstanding. Sami Sami has good selection of appetizers, sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, seafood, meat, and desserts. Their cocktails were awesome too.

Kisik Bar & Grill

I strongly recommend you to go during magical sunset time. The place was surrounded by beautiful Indian Ocean, and the table was set right on the sand. The restaurant also offers delicious seafood, such as lobster, prawn, calamari and deep sea fish, grilled just the way you like it.

I loved their breakfast. You can choose any style you like from European, American, Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Indonesian.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Bali, Ayana Resort and Spa is the place for you!

Hope you will visit there soon and please let me know your experiences there.
